All in a Row (Spruces)

There are always possibilities in spruce trees.

(acrylic on canvas, 16" x 12")

Especially driving country roads.

The landscape features most prominently in the body of my work. It is a landscape of suggestion, rather than a faithful figurative rendering; it is a landscape of fiction and abstraction. Major influences on my work have been the Canadian landscape, the tropical forest of the Congo and the land of the Mediterranean/Middle East. Born in Exeter, Ontario,I studied at the University of Prince Edward Island, McGill University in Montreal and the Université du Québec à Trois Rivières. I always ask one question; when does the unconventional become so utterly conventional as to become uninteresting - dull in fact? I hope these are not dull whatever else they are. Let me know what you think.

Lift Off

Lifting off from what and to go where?

Indeed suspension keeps us going but will we know when we get there?

But not really in a hurry.

Updraft Revisited

In an upward movement of air birds soar.

Movement in Paper

Movement in paper, movement on paper, movement with paper.

2016 December 26 (papiers colles 6" x 4")

Moving paper, moving it around -- finally it adheres to the surface.
