Dry Rain Revisited

It has other names – a dry storm, a virga, a shaft of dark clouds looking as if rain is expected.

It all evaporates before hitting the ground -- not quite a mirage.

The painting is reminiscent of others I have done called "Shaft of Sunlight" (also in this blog) and two paintings done in 2002-03 called "Intervention" one a study for the other. As is so often the case these have more than the obvious meaning but sometimes it takes a few years to see what that is. Let me know if you would like to see the 2002-03 paintings called "Intervention".
