Bales of Hay

Properly curing, rolled up and tied in a large round bundle, it stands as a promise of nourishment for the winter. Herbage and grasses, clover and timothy cut and dried.

Storm clouds blow in following red roads, driven down green fields punctuated by bales of hay. Lazy summer days saved in a bundle of foliage.

Third in the Artscapes Canada portrayals of Prince Edward Island this will be on view at my show at Howes Hall Gallery July 8-15 2013.

  3. This IS the island! Something about the quality of the light. And look at those storm clouds!

  4. Does this painting originate from a digital print? The hay bales have realistic detail that contrasts with your landscapes of suggestion. Do you have any other work with this contrast? Love your work!

  5. Thanks very much. Yes originates as a photograph printed on canvas with parts of the photo removed. I have then painted the rest. This was the 3rd canvas -- the other two were mentioned in this blog post of 19 August 2012 where in there is an explanation of the project called "Artscapes Canada"
