Circuit Breaker!
The landscape features most prominently in the body of my work. It is a landscape of suggestion, rather than a faithful figurative rendering; it is a landscape of fiction and abstraction. Major influences on my work have been the Canadian landscape, the tropical forest of the Congo and the land of the Mediterranean/Middle East. Born in Exeter, Ontario,I studied at the University of Prince Edward Island, McGill University in Montreal and the Université du Québec à Trois Rivières.
I always ask one question; when does the unconventional become so utterly conventional as to become uninteresting - dull in fact? I hope these are not dull whatever else they are. Let me know what you think.

Retrospective on a June walk
I walked through the neighbourhood late one beautiful June afternoon. On the way I saw an empty space where once a tree had grown. All that remained was a circle of dirt in a green lawn. The tree removal people had been there -- indeed the tree removal people had been all along that street. Not even a stump or a root left - extracted like so many bad teeth. This tree though was the inspiration for my 2009 Urban Tree.

Circles
Consider the circle; so simple yet so complex especially geometrically speaking. There is the circumference and the radius, the arc and the disc, the diameter and the centre -- no doubt other bits that I have missed.

Perfectly round with its ends meeting; we sit in them and study in them -- so many circles.
