It's all about horizons
The horizon line -- the one that separates the earth from the sky is not real. It is not a real line that is.
We move towards it, and it retreats before our eyes. We capture it much the way we would capture the wind -- in the offing, always just about to happen.
The landscape features most prominently in the body of my work. It is a landscape of suggestion, rather than a faithful figurative rendering; it is a landscape of fiction and abstraction. Major influences on my work have been the Canadian landscape, the tropical forest of the Congo and the land of the Mediterranean/Middle East. Born in Exeter, Ontario,I studied at the University of Prince Edward Island, McGill University in Montreal and the Université du Québec à Trois Rivières.

Cold, windy and circling in the atmosphere, sweeping around fro the southwest to the northeast.

The Constant Shore
Timeless, enduring, constant -- the dunes are deceptive in appearance. A surge with a nor'easter shouts at them -- they are not so constant after all.

They beckon in the summer casting an allure of sparkling seas and warm sands.

The North Shore
It is an old shore, this north shore. Exploring the coast on canvas, I searched out the qualities of the grasses; I asked about the shapes of the cliffs and in so doing tried to capture that elusive colour and movement of the water.

Gulf Shore North Triptych
Identity and place -- a bay within a bay -- stretching out to the deep-water blue of the Gulf. The shore, the coast, the beach, the dunes and then the allure of the ocean beyond.
